| In celebration of International Year of the Reef 2008, ECOMAR launched REEF RALLY in efforts to keep a record of unique marine life sightings in Belize. For many years we have received anecdotal reports of whales being sighted between Turneffe and Lighthouse Atolls. In efforts to record these important sightings the Reef Rally project was initiated. Everyone is encouraged to submit reports of sightings of unusual or rare fish, mammals or invertebrate, or anything out of place like manatees at Glovers or whale sharks outside of Gladden Spit. If you have photographs taken in the past of rare marine life please submit these along with date observed and location of sighting. Please submit your observation report via the "submit sighting" link of this page, by email, via the postal service, or by delivery in person. Please be sure to take a photograph or video of your sighting so we can include this on the website. Don't forget your cell phone probably has a camera feature, if of course your sighting is topside! |
