There are many resources on the web, but we have selected a few so you can continue to learn about the marine environment that is so important to all of us.
BLOG
Our blog has the most recent updates on our activities. You can search our BLOG for all the latest updates on activties by category, or project.
Many of the activities are also posted on Facebook by project. So on FB there will be a page for each of the following programs:
Turtle Watch
The Belize Field Representative is Valentine Rosado. CORAL is working with the communities in San Pedro, Ambergris Caye and Placencia. In Placencia they have helped establish the Placencia Mooring masters that manage a network of mooring buoys in the area and have also faciliated a sea turtle nesting workshop in conjunction with SEA, the Southern Environmental Association.
Several universities and organization around the Caribbean are monitoring coral spawning and collecting gametes. Links to coral spawning research are provided for your review. It is hoped that one day the Belize Nation Coral Reef Monitoring Network will be able to predict and watch corals spawning in Belize!
Headed by Mary Alice Coffroth, PhD who is a professor in the Department of Geology & Graduate Program in Evolution, Ecology and Behavior at the State University of New York at Buffalo. She has been conducting research on coral spawning in the Florida Keys since 2009.
This organization was founded by Dr. Todd Rimkus to raise funding for conservation of sea turtles at Gales Point. Dr. Rimkus is a professor at Marymount College in Virginia. Each year he offers college level course in conjunction with raising awareness on sea turtles. When in Belize Dr. Rimkus works closely with Kevin Andrewin from the Gales Point Wildlife Sanctuary Management Committee.

On this site you will find:
The Wider Sea Turtle Conservation Network is comprised of most countries in the Wider Caribbean and Central America that have ties to the Caribbean Sea that is coordinate by Dr. Karen Eckert. Members meet annually usually in association with the International Sea Turtle Society's annual symposium. Many networking and learning opportunities are available for organizations involved in turtle projects in the Wider Caribbean. WIDECAST has produced many manuals that are needed to guide sea turtle conservation including the Sea Turtle Recovery Action Plans, or STRAPS, for each country.
Climatide - Life on a Changing Sea
National Public Radio's Dr. Heather Goldstone is the administrator for this blog which focuses on impacts of climate change on this historic region which has great ties to the ocean. It is interesting to see how other cultures are coping with the impacts of climate change. Much of the material discussed here can be useful for us in Belize.
